I was never top of the class at school, but my classmates must have seen potential in me, because my nickname was ‘Einstein.’
Are you knowledgeable of the history of your nickname? Or you just have your nickname taken from your given name.
In my part, I had a very far off nickname from my name (as many of us does). I had a lot of nickname in this world and yet all I would really like the most is my nickname BEMBEM. Which then typographically translated to BHEM², BEM², or BHEM sometimes.
This nickname starts when I was in Grade 6, when I had met the only Martin in my life. Martin alias ‘bembem‘ was my childhood friend and was just farther to me due to schooling purposes. I just can’t eradicate in my life’s history that he made some of the most memorable experience with me. The nickname started from my mom. As I had shared her about Martin, there started the teases. I never was in doubt of refusing the nickname but wholeheartedly accepted it. The nickname was so precious and yet I don’t have the time to share it to somebody who ask ‘why is my nickname?’.
A nickname is “a name added to or substituted for the proper name of a person, place, etc., as in affection, ridicule, or familiarity.” The term hypocoristic is used to refer to a nickname of affection between those in love or with a close emotional bond, compared with a term of endearment.
